General Conference 2010- New Covenant

“Going Foward With God”

Pilgrim Nazarene Church Camp Garner Creek Retreat, Dickson, TN August 1-8, 2010

Saturday afternoon and evening people started arriving at Garner Creek Camp ground in west Tennessee for our 4th General Camp and Conference. Anticipation was high as we gathered because we each knew that in our own special way, we needed a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday morning, the camp started off with a communion service coordinated by Bro. Robert Jones with Bro. Tony Ross reading the Scripture and directing the partaking of the sacred elements of communion. The assistants efficiently handled the service and it was a blessed and sacred time for all. Bro. David Taylor preached a wonderful opening message and Bro. Charles Dodd IV led the singing with Sis. Gillian Davis playing the piano. We had a wonderful service.

Sunday evening and Monday morning found Bro. Mark Cravens in the pulpit and God came and met with us. Bro. James Plank took his turn Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Camp was certainly in progress and endorsed of God, evidenced in frequent altar services where people prayed until God met their need.

Beginning Monday, Bro. Paul Stetler (on the piano) and his sister Julie took over the special music, and the youth services. Bro. Dodd continued as song leader. These godly people were certainly anointed and fed our souls well in message and song throughout the week. Most of all, we were blessed with the presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

Marie and Anthony Clough were in charge of the Children’s Services. The theme was “Kids Under Construction.” They did a great job ~ and Anthony, after many trials and errors (typical of what we face in life), finally got a house built. ☺ The children were adorable on Saturday evening as they sang to us and recited their Scriptures for the week. I will have to say that Carson Fogleman and Alex Truitt made the program a smashing success! You just had to have been there…. ☺

Conference sessions were held every afternoon, Monday through Thursday ~ and the conference adopted some significant changes to the Manual by an over-whelming margin -- yes, we finished early! God surely aided us and guided the proceedings, helping us to come up with a document that defines us ~ as Pilgrim Nazarenes.

The highlight of Camp was the arrival of our General, Bro. Steve Snodgrass ~ AND ~ his lovely wife, for the Friday evening service. You have prayed for this family over the past weeks and months ~ and I can tell you with certainty that the prayers of God’s people are effectual and can certainly be felt in the time of need. It was so good to see and fellowship with friends that we seldom see at any other time. What a privilege to be among God’s people! We love our church family! And Praise God ~ I DO believe in miracles! I’m glad I went to camp!
